General Commission Advisories interpret the Code of Ethics broadly for all persons subject to its provisions. They address frequently asked questions as they apply to officials and employees serving in many capacities. While intended to assist all public officials and employees to understand and apply the Code of Ethics, these general advisories cannot cover every possible situation that may arise. Any reader who has a question about his or her own activities may wish to contact the Ethics Commission for an individual advisory opinion. To date, the Commission has issued thirteen such advisories. Advisories 5, 7, 9, and 12 have been withdrawn.
